Materials

  • 180-220 gsm cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Craft knife and cutting mat for handle holes
  • Blunt scoring tool and ruler

Steps

  1. Print, cut and score

Print at 100 percent; measure the 50 mm ruler. Cut two complete nets and remove both 28 x 8 mm handle holes plus the rear 18 x 1 mm slot. Score every marked crease before folding. Keep every attached tab.

  2. Form the body sleeve

With printing inside, valley-fold each 55 mm vertical body crease 90 degrees. Fold each 8 mm seam tab inward 90 degrees. Put F1 and R1 opposite each other; glue each tab inside the free vertical edge of the other 60 mm wall with exactly 8 mm overlap. Align top and bottom at 55 mm height; square to a 60 x 40 mm footprint and let dry.

  3. Seal the integral floor

Leave the roof open. Fold both 10 mm end dust flaps inward 90 degrees, then the R1 12 mm bottom flap inward. Apply glue to their outward-facing marked regions. Fold F1 full 60 x 40 mm floor inward last, underneath all three flaps. Its far edge meets the rear wall; the rear lap is 12 mm and end laps 10 mm. Press from inside against a flat table until dry.

  4. Prepare the gable supports

Keep both 40 x 15 mm end triangles upright, coplanar with their side walls; the score across each triangle base stays straight in the finished carton. Valley-fold each small sloping-edge tab inward 90 degrees. These 5 mm deep tabs support the roof without glue so it can reopen.

  5. Fill and bring handles together

Insert a lightweight gift below the 55 mm wall top. Fold both 60 x 25 mm roof panels inward 53.13 degrees from the upright wall continuation, over the four loose support tabs. The ridge rises 15 mm. Mountain-fold each handle back 53.13 degrees relative to its roof so both 60 x 28 mm handles stand vertical together at the ridge. Align the two handle holes; do not glue the handles or roof.

  6. Engage the reopenable lock

Fold F1 central 16 x 12 mm tongue 180 degrees over the top of R1 handle and down its outside. Gently bow the paired handles apart and feed the tapered tip through the R1 slot toward the space between handles. Slot center is 10 mm below the top; the tongue extends 2 mm beyond it. Flatten together to retain the tip. To open, separate handles slightly, withdraw the tip, unfold the tongue and lift the roofs. Trial fit before carrying; physical lock retention is unverified.

Notes

The 3D model shows each piece in its finished, idealized shape; the exploded view only spreads the pieces apart. It is not a paper-physics simulation: curved shapes are forming guides, not exact physical folding or proof of developability, and intermediate fold shapes are not supplied.
